ROBERTSONS have ditched their Golly logo -- after 91 years.
The little black figures, which a lot of us at St Paul's School collected off jam pots when we were small, are to be replaced by characters from Roald Dahl books.
Race relations groups hailed the move a victory in their fight to have Golly dumped, claiming it was offensive to black people.
How ridiculous. Political correctness rears its ugly head again. From next month, Willy Wonka and Matilda will appear on the jars instead.
The company says its is dropping the Golly figure because it is outdated, not racist. Collectors of the badges and figures will be delighted -- their values will rocket.
It's funny international athlete Julian Golly has not been forced to change his name.
