LEIGH market traders have been moved from pillar to post since the start of building extensions to the Spinning Gate centre.
They recently declared the new Albion Street site a disaster, with lots of stalls empty and casual traders being able to turn up and claim the prime sites.
I couldn't believe business for market traders could be so bad, but something must have gone wrong somewhere.
I went to Wigan last week and decided to take a stroll through their outdoor market stalls in the centre of The Galleries.
It's just as bad as Leigh.
There were more than a dozen bare stalls on a site which once had one of the best outdoor markets imaginable.
What's the problem?
Are customers deserting outdoor traders because there are too many cheaper £1 shops and charity shops springing up in towns that have knocked the traders for six?
Anyone got an answer?
