AS participants in the Mardi Gras in Blackburn on Bank Holiday Monday, we would like to say a big thank-you for all the hard work to Action Factory, Community Development and the council.
Without their combined input, community groups would not have the chance to exhibit their skills and express their creativity. Funding provided throughout the year, not just for the day, helps all groups within the borough build up their confidence and skills, which leads to better communities.
Our float was based upon ancient Egypt. This was made possible through funding from Arts Development, which ranged from Arabic dancing lessons to material to make the costumes and the float.
Other achievements made possible through this funding range from appearing on stage at Arts in the Park, creative writing and Arabic dancing.
Let's hope the Mardi Gras goes from strength to strength.
