MEMBERS of the Royal British Legion's Darwen branch will be celebrating their 80th anniversary on Friday.
They will be having a private meal to mark their good work over the years.
The celebrations follow their 75th anniversary, when members planted a weeping birch tree close to the war memorial in Bold Venture Park, Darwen.
Branch Secretary Terry Wyre said: "I have only been secretary for 18 months, but in my time here I have met some fantastic people. We will be doing our very best to help make the anniversary one to remember for all the members."
It is hoped by members that the Royal British Legion will continue for many years.
Mr Wyre added: "It is amazing that the Royal British Legion is still going after all these years because many young people of today don't have time and aren't as interested in fund raising. But I hope that attitudes change so that it will be going for many more years."
