A FAMILY fun day will be held at St Mary's RC School, Tong Lane, Bacup, on September 30 from 10am.
It is being organised in response to adverse comments about the 'Planning for Real' programme and what is seen as a lack of action in the area.
A small steering committee is organising the event and will be asking residents to join the group to give them a sense of ownership and involvement in the work.
Chairman of Bacup Pride Community Action Group Coun Peter Steen said: "Despite a certain amount of pessimism surrounding the 'Planning for Real' project, it is still moving forward.
"The consultation with the public has been completed, the back room work is still going ahead at Groundwork and the request for funding is working its way through the SRB appraisal process.
"It is now up to the committee to keep people aware of progress and ensure the scheme stays on track.
"As we grow it is the intention to work with the consortium and the Stacksteads Riverside Group to restore pride to the Bacup and Stacksteads areas."
The fun day include children's sports, a karaoke competition, face painting, fancy dress and raffle with a £250 first prize.
A car boot sale will also be held and stall holders should contact Ann Sutton on 01706 876047 for details.
