A DOUBLE disaster from Bacup defender Ian McLellan handed Alsager the points in the North West Counties Second Division tie at West View.
It was all Bacup in the opening minutes with Karl Stanley causing problems for the visitors but then defender McCLellan, under no pressure from the Alsager forwards, passed back to keeper Adam Potts - playing with a broken finger - and conceded a corner.
"I had been warned that Alsager were dangerous at set pieces and so they proved to be," said manager Brent Peters on the opening goal.
"Ian McLellan is one of the most experienced players on the team but that mistake cost us."
It was McLellan again later in the game who conceded a dubious penalty for handball after the ball bounced awkwardly on the edge of the area and came up onto his arm. Alsager scored from the spot.
RESULT: BACUP...0 ALSAGER...2
