Atherton LR 2 Radcliffe Boro 5
JUST as in Saturday's 3-3 draw at Stainton Park NWCL Division One LR had a few FA Cup surprises up the sleeve for Unibond League Boro.
Rovers shocked their higher league opponens when they took the lead in the Preliminary Round replay after only three minutes through Mark Jones.
The Radcliffe Boro midfield department which had been inexplicably out of sorts on Saturday was to prove the difference between the sides in the replay although the task was made slightly easier when LR's combative Steve Stange was forced out of the action through injury in the 15th minute.
Eamon Elliott levelled on eight minutes and put Boro in front on 22. Ten minutes into the second half Lee Kissock put in the rebound after the LR keeper had saved his initial shot for 3-1. Still Rovers refused to be rolled over and substitute Paul Dean reduced the deficit on the hour mark.
Boro upped the pace and sealed a trip to Farsley Celtic in the next round a week on Saturday with goals from Jody Banim on 80 and David Bean on 87 minutes. Radcliffe's Scott Wilson was named man of the match. Rams raided Ramsbottom Utd 1
Clitheroe 4
A 4-1 HOME defeat hurts at any time but coming against one of your fiercest rivals adds an extra sting.
The one and only consolation in a miserable outing for United was Brad Franks' 89th minute goal otherwise the night belonged entirely to Clitheroe.
"We said before the game not to be fooled that Clitheroe hadn't won a game so far this season," fumed club secretary John Maher. "Having kept the same side that did so well last season and reached the Vase semis you just knew they would come good. They did - and it was against us. It was a miserable display from our lads and just impossible to name a man of the match they were that bad." Dismal

DAISY were feeling punch-drunk after last night's heavy home defeat by the NWCL Division Two new boys followed so quickly on the heels of Saturday's 9-1 defeat at Nelson.
Manager Alan Aspinall refuses to point the finger at individuals. "Its a collective responsibility," he says.
"Not only are we defending badly at the back we are missing chances up front and if you do that you don't win football matches." Paul Prescot was Daisy's scorer.
