VISITORS to Preston's Moor Park enjoyed a free day of great family fun on Sunday.
The fifth Preston Flower Fair and Family Fun Day took place near the pavilion on the park and was organised by the borough council in partnership with Preston and District Allotment Association.
Dozens of the town's allotment holders took part in the event and were delighted to display their home-grown goods to the public, from huge marrows to juicy tomatoes.
And for gardening enthusiasts there was a display of freshly-grown flowers -- a bundle of blooms to match even the finest floral display.
Entertainment for the young ones included a children's funfair, bouncy castle, Punch and Judy show and donkey rides. Adult visitors enjoyed a toe-tapping afternoon of brass band music and chart topping hits from a popular DJ.
There was also an assortment of flower, craft and commercial stalls, bird of prey displays and much more.
Councillor Veronica Afrin, portfolio holder for the council's regeneration, community and leisure services department, said: "Preston Borough Council fully supports the Preston allotments and recognises the importance they have with local communities and the benefits they bring in terms of healthy living and good food.
"This fair is an ideal opportunity to promote the allotments and home-grown produce as well as providing a free family day out." Words: Jane Willis
