I WANT to immediately acknowledge fault with my previous letter to the Citizen (23 August).
The original point of the letter was not to support Louis Farrakhan but to guard against intolerance and to support the Human Rights Act (which Cllr Beaman referred to as "ludicrous").
Regrettably I was not aware of the extent of the views and comments of Louis Farrakhan, and I am grateful to Ray Hill for bringing this to my attention.
The thought that people might get the impression that I support such racist views made me feel sick to the pit of my stomach and I apologise to Cllr Beaman, Mr Hill and anyone else who may have been unintentionally offended by my wording.
I joined the Green Party many years ago, because I felt that the only way to live without racism and intolerance is to fully recognise ourselves as a human community living together on one planet, who must find ways to live together peacefully and co-operatively. I hope that one erroneously written paragraph does not affect peoples opinions of the Green Party or of myself as we are all utterly committed to building a fair and just world now and for the future.
