FORMER Burnley starlet Alan Lee returns to Turf Moor on Saturday wanting to make a point to his old club.
The 23-year-old front-runner has shown his worth after being allowed to leave Burnley for Rotherham United, hitting 13 goals last term as the Millers were promoted for the second season running.
But while that may have made a few people sit up and take notice, he is determined to show the Clarets what they are missing with a strong performance for the Millers on Saturday.
"I do feel that I go back having something to prove, but not in a nasty way," said the gently spoken Galway-born striker.
"I only really started one game and I never did feel that I had shown people at Burnley what I was capable of when I was there.
"But I am looking to go back there, I have a lot of friends at the club and it would be nice to play a good game too."
However, the move to Millmoor has worked out well for Lee, who will be looking to maintain a strike rate of a goal every three games for the Millers.
"I was delighted with the club from day one," enthused Lee.
"I wanted to go there and I have really enjoyed myself since I arrived.
"When I came in their were aiming and hoping to reach the play-offs, so to get the promotion just compounded my delight at joining the club.
"But now we are trying to find our feet in the new division and it is hard, though I feel we have been a little unlucky so far."
The Millers arrive at Turf moor still seeking their first League win of the season having suffered 3-2 defeats at the hands of Crystal Palace and Watford before gaining 1-1 draws with neighbours Barnsley and Sheffield United.
Clarets defender Mitchell Thomas could be set for a return at the heart of the defence against Rotherham.
The 36-year-old came through a full 90 minutes in last night's reserve game at Tranmere Rovers.
His outing in the 3-0 defeat at Prenton Park was his first action this season after sustaining an abductor strain in pre-season.
It will hand boss Ternent a further option for selection after utilising Gordon Armstrong in the centre back role in last Sunday's 3-2 success at Bradford City.
Armstrong stood in for Ian Cox, who is out for at least a fortnight due to tendonitis in his Achilles, but Ternent had been more than happy with the way his defence had performed at Valley Parade.
"Gordon is a top class player, as is our skipper Steve Davis, and I know that they can handle it.
"But the whole point of having a squad the size we do is that when one player is out we have another good player to come in.
"And then that player will do his best and and tries to hold on to the shirt."
Also set for a possible return to action is striker Gareth Taylor, who missed the Valley Parade success due to being on duty with the Welsh squad.
Sadly for Taylor his ninth Welsh cap failed to arrive as he was not involved in either the 0-0 draw against Armenia in the Millennium Stadium on Saturday or in last night's 3-2 defeat at the hands of Norway in Oslo.
The Clarets youth, team, who have a 100 per cent league record, are in knock-out action on Saturday when they take on Tranmere Rovers in the first round of the Youth Allince Cup at Gawthorpe (11am).
