THANKS to the generosity of local people and businesses, this year's Longton Village Fete generated a surplus of almost £1,300.
As promised, all this money is to be donated to local charities, village groups and organizations -- both to help them and to acknowledge the help that they gave in making this year's fete such a success. Everyone is welcome to attend the presentation of cheques -- which will be at The Black Bull pub, Liverpool Road at 8pm on Tuesday, September 25.
South Ribble Lions Club, who helped organise this year's event, has already reserved May 18 for next year's fete.
If anyone would like to help, or wishes to know more about the Lions, please contact Geoff Evans on 611072.
