THE man with the great voice and unusual name is back! Engelbert Humperdinck makes his return to Blackpool in November for a one-night gig at Blackpool Opera House.
The famous singer has appeared several times in Blackpool, most notably for a bill-topping run at the ABC Theatre in '68.
Engelbert said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be coming to Blackpool again. Back in 1968 I had such a great time appearing there in summer season and it proved to be a very successful show, breaking all-known box office records."
He praised Blackpool as a "shining beacon" for entertainment in Britain. "It will be nice to be part of that once more," he said.
During the last six months, Engelbert has been busy touring the United States, Canada, Russia, South America, Australia and New Zealand.
But for Engelbert there is no place like home. "I am delighted to be back home and very happy to be touring Britain.
"I can't wait, and I am so pleased it will give so many of my fans the opportunity to see my new stage show right here on home soil," he said.
To coincide with his UK dates, Universal Records are releasing a brand new Engelbert Humperdinck album, Wake Up With You.
It follows the success of his album, Engelbert At His Very Best, which went gold within days of its release in March 2000, eventually selling more than 300,000 copies.
His video, Engelbert Live At the London Palladium, also peaked at number seven in the UK video chart.
He hopes his Blackpool date will be just as successful. "I'm delighted to be appearing at the Opera House again," he said.
"The theatre has a fantastic reputation and track record -- so many great stars have performed there in the past."
Engelbert will appear at The Opera House on Tuesday, November 27 at 7.30pm. Tickets priced £21, £23 and £25 are available from the box office on 292029.
