WHITEFIELD'S blighted Elms Precinct was set to receive some long-awaited good news last night (Thursday Sept 6).
Councillors were voting on whether to approve plans to rebuild the precinct which has lain semi-derelict for many months.
The plans are to create a large two-storey fitness and therapy centre, and a two-storey retail development comprising one large unit and six smaller ones.
The few remaining businesses would move into this building, and the rest of the Elms demolished. There would also be provision for 266 car parking spaces.
