A RAMSBOTTOM primary school opened for the start of term without its headteacher.
Mr Mike Duce remains suspended from Peel Brow School after allegations of exam irregularities. He took sick leave soon after he was asked to leave the school at the end of May.
However, Mr Harold Williams, the borough's chief education officer, said that the school was continuing to function as normal with the deputy headteacher, Mrs Janet Holden, currently in charge. He said: "We cannot conclude our investigation until such time as Mr Duce meets with us.
"We are keeping the governing body updated of the situation. But the school is open and running as usual."
