IT'S success on a plate for the popular Prestwich-based Domino's Pizza store, which has undergone a facelift costing more than £50,000.
Now, the Bury New Road delivery shop is serving up a new look to customers, thanks to the franchise owner who helped turn the company into a household name.
The Prestwich store was one of the first Domino's outlets in the UK and was one of 16 franchised by Nottingham entrepreneur Peter Hiles.
Today, the popular store, originally established 13 years ago, is among the busiest in Britain.
Its increasing sales reflect the nationwide trend that has seen home-delivered food make the move from occasional treat to regular occurrence. Now, the store has received a complete overhaul, including an eye-catching new frontage, bright and welcoming customer area, new offices and the latest technology and equipment as well as stylish new staff uniforms.
After joining Domino's in 1988, Peter set himself a target of owning 20 stores.
Now he and his business partner and former store manager-turned company director, Bill Richardson, are close to achieving that ambition.
Last year, the store sold a staggering 48,000 pizzas, and clocked up 72,000 safe driving miles within Prestwich alone, as it handled increasing numbers of deliveries to homes and businesses.
Peter and Bill's success has contributed significantly to the astronomical growth of Domino's Pizza.
The business employs almost 3,000 people and has come a long way since the days when Peter munched on his first pizza while working in the US back in 1984.
Peter, whose outlets in the North West complement those in the Nottingham area which form his core business, said: "It's been very gratifying to be part of the company's rapid rise.
"At the end of last year, the company's pre-tax profits were up 61.89 per cent to £2.2 million on sales that had risen from £63.5 million to £76.1 million, and brand awareness was at an all-time high of 81 per cent of the population."
Domino's Pizza aims to open 1,000 outlets in the UK and Ireland, and already sells more than 360 million pizzas each year.
Since the introduction of its interactive TV pizza delivery service in 1999, demand is rising even further.
