VANDALISM of Blackpool illuminations' new sound and light dinosaur tableau has prompted lights bosses to warn people of the dangers of tampering with electrical and other equipment.
The huge tableau, which was fitted with speakers to make the dinosaurs roar as well as glow, was attacked by vandals who stole two speakers and damaged amplifiers.
Illuminations manager Richard Ryan said the vandals were putting themselves and others at risk. He said that luckily the damage caused to the tableau, which cost in the region of £75,000, was only in the hundreds of pounds."
Now hoteliers are pitching in to help stop hooligans ruining displays. Bispham hotelier Mick Grewcock has leafleted 40 hotels along the prom asking people to watch out for vandals and contact police.
