TYLDESLEY RU lost their way and their final warm-up game before the league programme starts, mainly due to a poor second half performance at Aspull.
Tyldesley started the stronger but the home side defended well and little in
the way of a scoring opportunity materialised for either side. With a minute left in the half Tyldesley elected to run a tap penalty deep in the Aspull half but they somehow managed to turn the ball over and allowed Aspull to breakout and score the opening try just before the break.
The second half saw Tyldesley move the ball out wide and right wing Eddie Wallbank crossed for try which he duly converted to put Tyldesley 7-5 ahead. However Aspull came back and two converted tries put them back in the driving seat.
Tyldesley reduced the lead when Wallbank crossed for his second try but Aspull responded almost immediately with another converted try. The Tyldesley forwards who had been quiet all day finally found a extra gear and prop Ryan Grainey crashed for his first try of the season converted by Wallbank.
In the last few minutes of the game Aspull made sure of the win with a unconverted try and penalty for a 34-19 victory.
On Saturday Tyldesley travel to Rochdale for the opening league game.
Tyldesley second team warmed up for their first sojourn into league rugby
with a comfortable 26-6 home win over Aspull.
Tyldesley thirds had a mixture of experience and youth on show in a 15-12 defeat at Aspull.
