Blackbrook 20 Widnes Alb 8: BROOK emerged victorious after a bruising encounter with a tough Widnes outfit.
Honours finished even in the first half after Brook opened the scoring when on 10 minutes scrum half Andy Shaw finished off a break from Paul Toole to score between the posts.
Shaw also added the conversion. Brook's lead lasted only five minutes when the Albion hit back with an unconverted try from prop Swindley.
The home side lost stand-off Paul Toole through injury and struggled to make inroads against the visitors defence. Shaw added a penalty. However two goals from the Widnes centre Ostick levelled the scores at half time.
Brook's coach John Winders half time pep talk unlocked the visitors' defence with forwards Ste Molyneux and Phil Smith attacking the Widnes side wide out.
Twelve minutes into the second period Dave Ryan provided the telling pass to centre Gaz Brown who scored in the corner.
Shaw converted from the touchline. Andy Shaw increased the lead eight minutes later with a penalty. With less than a quarter of the game remaining, Brook continued to attack wide on the left and it was that man Andy Shaw who found Ste Molyneux with a long pass to enable the second row man to complete the scoring with a try in the corner.
The Andrew Douglas Car Sales man of the match went to loose forward Dave Ryan with Andy Shaw, Ste Molyneux and Phil Smith all in contention.
Brook are at home again this Saturday against Dalton with the match kicking off at 2.30pm at Boardmans Lane.
