I READ Councillor Adam's discourse on how "immigrants have enriched the nation" (Your Letters, August 10). I am sure that many people in Oldham, Burnley and Bradford would think otherwise.
And I don't know how he arrives at the conclusion that there are by patronymics only four ethnic Irish councillors on Bury Council.
For a start there are two Costellos and I would estimate that, on the Labour side, at least a quarter are ethnic Irish. When you add the Scots, Welsh, Asian, Moslem and the councillors he describes as "Hebrew", I would not be surprised if Anglo-Saxons are in a minority.
