THE traders at the bottom of Ainsworth Road and Water Street, Radcliffe, have every right to complain ("Traders kick up big stink", August 30).
Does the council or the water companies not check on the grids? It is quite clear to me that they are blocked during heavy downpours. This causes two "rivers" which then meet at the junction of the two roads, causing the flooding.
If the council engineers travelled further than the streets of Bury town centre, they would find numerous problems in outlying areas.
Council taxes are also paid by these people and they are entitled to have the same money spent on their businesses and homes as those in Bury. So, I say to the council: get your act together or get out and let somebody do the job for everyone and not just the few.
C. J. MORGAN,
Chelsea Avenue, Radcliffe.
