A MAN was being questioned today after a raid on a post office.
Terrified staff at Whalley Post Office said they handed over a substantial amount of cash after a gun was pointed at them on Saturday, at 7pm.
Police said the man then escaped with the cash in a car parked nearby.
The post office was open at that time because it is also a National Lottery outlet.
Shortly after the alarm was raised, a car was stopped in the Blackburn area and police recovered a hand gun and a quantity of cash.
A man in his 20s was taken to Blackburn police station for questioning, which was continuing today.
The post office owners said they were too distressed to comment at length about the incident.
They said they were relieved nobody was hurt and were still trying to come to terms with the incident.
