A YOUNGSTER was in hospital today with head injuries after being involved in a collision with a car on a Chorley street.
Police said the three-year-old, who has not been named, appeared to have run out from behind a parked car and into the path of a Vauxhall Belmont, on Duke Street, Chorley, at around 4.50pm yesterday.
The youngster, who police said lives near the accident scene, was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital suffering from "significant" head injuries although they are not thought to be life threatening.
He will be transferred to a children's specialist unit at either Manchester or Liverpool later today.
At this stage doctors said the boy was showing good signs of recovery and was stable.
Accident investigators from Chorley were on the scene and their inquiries are on-going.
