REGARDING Hyndburn MP Greg Pope and trainers (LET, September 3), there is a time and place for everything and though Mr Pope would love to be just one of the lads, he must remember he has a role to play and trainers, or coal barges as I call them, do not fit his personality.
I think trainers are ugly, clumsy-looking, and makes the wearer's feet look twice as big.
If Mr Pope was just plain 'Greg,' it would be OK, but -- and it is a big but -- he is an MP and should dress accordingly.
That means, a neat pair of black shoes, a neat pair of well-pressed trousers, the whitest-of-white shirts and a well-fitting blazer.
