A BLACKBURN student is stuck in America after all planes were grounded.
Paul Vaughan, 20, is staying just outside New York and was due to fly home today.
Paul's dad John said he did not know when his son was expected home.
John said: "I wasworried sick about Paul. I knew he was in New York but I did not know where. When he telephoned it was such a relief."
John and wife Pauline own Blackburn Record Exchange, in Higher Church Street.
No details have been released about when the airports will be open again.
Paul, a language student at Bangor University , has been in America for the past four months.
He travelled around America and was in New York City itself just days before the attack.
He said: "Paul said everybody was just shocked. What happened is almost unbelievable."
Father-of-two Stephen Buckley, 46, who left East Lancashire 12 years ago and now lives in Connecticut, New York State, described the tragedy as absolutely terrible.
