A WOMAN was indecently assaulted in the early hours of Sunday morning by a man she met on a night out in Lancaster.

The 35-year-old victim was assaulted after getting into a car with the man, who she had been talking to earlier in the evening.

Police are now examining CCTV footage provided by management at the Warehouse nightclub to try and identify the man.

The pair had met in the club on North Road and walked across town together to a parking area close to Earnshaw's Furniture, King Street at around 2.30am to 3am on Sunday morning. After being assaulted, the woman left the car.

Police believe many people may have been using the nearby taxi rank and fast food outlets in the area at the time and may be able to help.

Det Sgt Mark Salisbury of Lancaster police said: "Obviously this is quite a busy area as it is opposite the taxi rank outside Kentucky Fried Chicken and close to several hot food take-aways. We believe many people could still have been in the area, even late at night.

"We would urge anyone with any information to contact Lancaster CID. Our enquiries are still ongoing."

The man is described as white, around 5ft 9in tall, in his late 20s to mid 30s, of slim build with a long, slim face. He wore a light brown, short sleeved shirt and trousers. The man had access to a blue car on the night in question.

Police are not linking the incident with a string of sexual offences in the city earlier this year. The latest assault is being investigated separately.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Lancaster police on 63333.
