THE Pines Hotel, near Leyland, in conjunction with the Citizen Newspapers, is holding talent competitions in November for people with a special gift.
Talented singers, dancers, musicians and comedians are all welcome to attend the contest and have a bash at becoming the next Madonna, Michael Jackson or even Paul Daniels.
The Pines Hotel, Preston Road, Clayton-le-Woods, is renowned in the North West for promoting some of the UK's greatest tribute acts and artists.
Alan Frew, entertainments manager at the venue, is looking for local companies to sponsor the first ever Search for a Local Star with the winning contestants getting the chance to launch a career in the entertainment business with the help of a fabulous PA/backing system.
One of the judges will be Preston singer Steve Bayliss, who recently made it through to the finals on television's Star for a Night, hosted by cruise ship singing star Jane McDonald.
He won his heat with a powerful rendition of Got to Get You into My Life, recorded by the Beatles.
Steve said: "I don't know how much these kids want to be stars but speaking from my own experience I know how important it is to get your chance at a break.
"I have done well to get as far as I have and I love the idea of stardom but I still have a long way to go to make it and while appreciating this, I know that Search for a Local Star is a very good place to start -- I am really looking forward to the competition."
Mr Frew added: "For any person who wants to explore and show their talents, the contest is like a breath of fresh air in the entertainment field. Who knows what stars will be discovered."
"People should really go for it, they have got the opportunity and they should give it there best shot."
Any businesses interested in helping should contact Alan Frew on 01772 338551 at The Pines Hotel, Clayton-le-Woods, Chorley.
