A GREEN Festival, packed with environmentally friendly attractions, is being held in Victoria Square, St Helens on Saturday, September 22 to mark Car Free Day.
A European-wide event to encourage alternative forms of travel, Car Free Day is part of international efforts to cut congestion and pollution so creating a cleaner environment.
Festival activities, which include the chance to win a bike, begin at 9.30am in the Central Library, with a 'How Green is Your Life' event.

The main festival gets underway at 11.30am and runs until 5pm. Environmental exhibitions, displays of low-emission vehicles, kiddies' rides, including a bio-diesel fuelled carousel, face painting and theatre with Zyborg the visitor from outer space are among the attractions.
Supported by St Helens Council, Groundwork, Merseyside Environment Trust and Merseytravel, the event marks the culmination of a series of green transport festivals held throughout the summer.
