WITH the ever increasing costs which our area's NHS trusts face, there is a possible 'quick fire' solution to the ever-increasing costs of crutches and walking sticks. (crutches are generally for short term 'loan')
Were a £5 bounty given to someone returning the items (especially crutches) to their local accident/minor injuries unit, I feel sure that some of the younger end of the population would make time to visit properties in their areas to ask people if they had any under the stairs, or in the garage etc.
Initially, there could be thousands of pounds to pay out in 'bounties,' but the ongoing costs of new replacements would be drastically reduced. (Perhaps the bounty for crutches should be more than £5 and for walking sticks less).
Many people will remember going round, as youngsters, and collecting deposit-paid bottles for return in good, clean condition.
