AGOOD number of those who fought for the freedom of India have already passed away, but still there are quite a few among us who will have witnessed the historical event when India received independence and Pakistan came into being.
I call for them to help in the preparation of a book, which will contain the thoughts, feelings, sentiments, achievement, sufferings, gains and losses, of all those involved.
Many valuable books have already been written, but this would be unique, since it would be a brief autobiography of the individual subscribers and would be of great value to the future generation.
It is proposed to publish the book in English and Urdu. Contributions are sought from members of the public, without any restriction of race, religion, nationality, gender or colour.
Contributors are requested to summarise their recollections in not more than 1,000 words, and provide their name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, if available, and also their place of residence and age at the time of independence.
Name and address of the contributors will not be published without their prior permission.
