IT'S coming up to a decade since the demise of what I believe was the best local league side this area has had for a long team.
And I had the very good fortune to be involved with them.
Burnley Bank Hall FC did in one season in the West Lancs League what many teams can only dream of -- and that was completing a unprecendented treble of Divison One league and cup winners and Lancashire Junior Shield winners.
The team was a mix of ex-professionals and good non league players -- mean at the back and free-scoring up front.
I joined from Clitheroe FC at the end of August and Bank Hall had just had an average start to the season.
My first game was at Springfield where we were beaten 1-0 but after that we went on a 39 game that saw us drop just two points and won two cup finals into the process.
The team was managed by ex-Claret and Chelsea player Ian Britton, a great tactition and ball player.
In front of me was rock solid ex Burnley and Bolton defender Derek Scott and the brilliant left back Geoff Smith.
Alongside Ian in midfeild was another ex-Claret Phil Malley with the tricky Ashley Hoskin out wide with the skilfull Neil Grewcock.
Up front was the precocious Kiko Rodriguez and goal machine Keith Blackburn.
I have to say it was the best team for atmosphere and talent I have ever played for.
Back up to date and I would just like to thank John Berko of Toll Bar for getting me back between the sticks at the weekend -- I really enjoyed it.
