RADCLIFFE'S newest park faces further delays before it opens its gates to the public.
A number of glitches meant that the site, at the former One Stop shopping centre in Stand Lane, is still not ready, even though it was due to open in June.
Bury Council's architect, Nick Atherton, explained that there are three outstanding problems.
"The main one is that a cable at the entrance to the car park was too high and needed lowering to enable the road to be surfaced. We expect that work to be done in the next few days."
There have also been problems with the type of slats used on the seating and a delay with the installation of two of the lanterns on the columns lining the colonnade. Radcliffe Area Board co-ordinator Ros Glover said: "We are hoping to at least open it for pedestrian use very soon, and to vehicles as soon as possible."
A £180,000 North West Development Agency derelict land reclamation grant was used to help transform the land into a riverside walk from Stand Lane through to Pilkington Way. In addition, there is a grassed terrace stepping down towards the river, a paved area, trees and a 23-place car park.
