SOME fine innings were replayed at Ramsbottom Cricket Club when a reunion was staged for past players.
The nostalgic get-together attracted 150 ex-players and their partners to the club during the first team game against Tordmorden.
A presentation was made to two "old boys" Jim Broughton and Norman Longworth.
Eighty-nine-year-old Jim, of Bury New Road, Ramsbottom, is the oldest member of the club still living locally.
Norman, aged 94, played at Ramsbottom for 15 years and then took up umpiring for 15 years. He now lives in Blackpool.
One of the organisers, Maurice Haslam, explained how the idea for a reunion mushroomed.
He said: "We began to talk about it when some of us attended a sportsman's dinner at Brooksbottom Cricket Club and met people who had a connection with our club.
"The question was asked why don't we have a reunion, so we wrote invitation letters to everyone we could get addresses for.
"It was an informal event, some people came down during the day and others later in the evening.
"It was an excellent day, and several games games were played over again," he added.
During the day, the club decided to raise money for Alzheimer's Disease, in recognition of one of the past players who now suffers with the condition. A total of £225 was collected which will go to the Pinfold Lane unit in Whitefield.
