YOUNG people with an interest in health care are being sought to become cadets on a new course guaranteed to put them on the right career path.
Bury Health Care NHSTrust is in the process of recruiting those aged from 16 to their early 20s for the new 2 year NVQ course on all aspects of health care.
The successful applicants will spend their first year working three days in the hospital and gaining experience in different departments and two days in college. For the second year, students can choose to specialise in a particular department.
Bursaries will be available to students on the course which is being funded by the Greater Manchester Workforce Confederate.
The cadet course is a part of a recruitment drive by the North West NHS office. But this does not mean that all students on the course are bound to the NHS when they have completed their studies.
Angela Abbott, Bury Health Care NHS Trust's nursing director, said: "This course gives students a real opportunity to understand whether working in the NHS is for them.
"And if they find out it is not for them then they will have qualifications which will be recognised in other careers they might want to pursue."
People who are interested in the course should contact one of the following people:
Mrs Enid Chamberlain on 280 8273, Mrs Wendy Berry 280 8285 or Mrs Trich Horton on 705 3392.
