FREE fuel here tomorrow -- said a filling-station sign.
Next day, drivers were filling tanks to the brim! But then staff reminded them that it was not tomorrow!
They had fallen into the 'tomorrow' trap, a mirage that many chase across a life as boring as a desert.
Jesus was very much a 'today' man, and those who truly know and love Him do not fall into the 'tomorrow' trap.
While others worry about tomorrow saying, "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "What shall we wear?", every day, the Christian "Seeks first the kingdom of God and His righteousness," and knows that all the other things will be added. Matthew 6:31-34
With a touch of humour, Jesus says: "If you want to worry about anything, then worry about your relationship with God!"
Get your priorities right! Let your first concern be to begin and continue each day in a "one to one" conversation with God. Ask Him for wisdom and guidance and you will find that all the other things fall into place. No longer will worry torment you with the miserable words, "What if this or that happened?"
You will realise through the Bible and experience you will never be in any circumstances that are outside God's knowledge and power.
Zacchaeus was a wealthy tax collector who climbed a tree in order to see Jesus. Jesus knew all about this little cheat but He called out: "Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for TODAY I must stay at your house." Luke 19:1-10.
Zacchaeus came down, received Him joyfully and became a new man! His grabbing became giving and his worried conscience no longer kept him awake.
The Bible says: "Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts." Hebrews 3:15. Tomorrow never comes!
