HE'S no pudding!

That's eight-year-old Sean Taylor who was crowned world champion over the weekend at throwing black puddings!

Sean, of East View, Stubbins, shared the honour with Australian visitor Jim Rowley at the annual mad-cap event held at the Corner Pin Pub, Stubbins, on Sunday, September 9.

The youngster knocked seven Yorkshire puddings off a plate 20ft high up in the air to be the joint winner in the annual contest. Sean's dad, Phil, a regular at the Bolton Road North pub, said: "I am absolutely delighted. He's a world champion at eight-years-old. I'm 48, and have never been a world champion so he had done brilliantly.

"I don't think it has really sunk in for him yet, though. He's a bit embarrassed by it. But when it does I'm sure he will be very proud."

Jim Rowley, who was denied an outright victory in the Kelloggs sponsored event said he was nevertheless proud to be taking the title back to Australia.

The 50-year-old emigrated down under to Brisbane after growing up in Liverpool and said he was pleased to have taken part in "a very English tradition".

"It was great to just be involved. I am proud to have won. But I have to take my hat off to the little lad who I share the title with. He did excellently."

Current world record holder of the event is Ralph Hegginbothom who succeeded in felling a whopping 14 Yorkshire puddings with one shot in 1938.

Organiser Lee Gosling said: "The event went absolutely brilliantly. For the first time we had winners from two continents and I'm glad to see the title come back to Stubbins.
