I WAS surprised at the speed of Councillor Boden's reply (Sept 7). My letter evidently touched a nerve although I think that his adage refers to money spent foolishly and not unnecessarily, as was my point.

Now I wonder if Coun Boden will reply with equal alacrity to my many letters regarding the future of the Arts and Crafts Centre in Bury. It has been threatened with closure by the council several times and this threat has never actually been lifted. Also, as far as I am aware, no decision has been made despite innumerable meetings and money spent on consultants' reports about this historic building and the service it provides.

More than 1,500 users vote with their feet and their pockets every year and surely that must send some message to you and your fellow councillors, Mr Boden.

Another speedy reply would therefore be appreciated.
