TOP East Lancashire chef Nigel Smith will be cooking up a treat for listeners to The Burn 106fm.
Nigel, executive chef at the Feilden Arms, Mellor, will broadcast on Wednesdays and Fridays and will include a wide range of dishes, from scrambled eggs and Lancashire hotpot to roasted turbot in his shows.
His first dish will be roasted artichokes and peppers with home-made pasta and Thai/Indian chicken, which he tested on Blackburn MP and Foreign Secretary Jack Straw when he dined at the Feilden Arms last night.
He said: I'm really looking forward to being part of this exciting new venture.
"We want to give as much support to The Burn as possible and we will be giving listeners a wide variety of recipes, ranging from traditional to vegetarian and Indian dishes.
"We'll also be producing recipe sheets of all the dishes we cover, which listeners will be able to ring or call the station for."
The Burn will broadcast on FM from Monday for a 28-day period and will feature a blend of local news, sport and classic music from the past four decades, as well as the essential ingredient of Nigel's favourite recipes.
Station organisers promise The Burn will cater for all communities and carry dedicated shows for Asian listeners at the weekend.
