ROVERS boss Graeme Souness declared himself happy with yesterday's 1-1 draw against Ipswich.

"I think we deserved a point," said Souness.

"We didn't start very well, they put us under a lot of pressure early on, and I would say that's arguably the worst we've played in our three away games so far.

"But we showed character to get something from the game. Looking at the number of chances we created, we would normally take more than one of them which continues to be a cause for concern.

"But I don't think Ciccio could have done any more with the opportunities which fell to him, it was just one of those days where the ball wouldn't go in. Our biggest problem in the first half was the fact we didn't pick up enough second balls in midfield which allowed them to hurt us.

"But we spoke about that at half time and we gradually got better at that as the game went on and we possibly even shaded the second half."

Ipswich boss George Burley felt aggrieved that a late strike from Marcus Stewart was ruled out by referee Graham Poll for a foul on Henning Berg -- a decision which Souness felt was spot on.

He was unhappy, however, at Poll's failure to spot Hermann Hreidarsson tugging at the shirt of Keith Gillespie which should have warranted a second booking for the Icelandic international.

"I don't think there was any doubt about the foul on Henning but as for the incident in which Keith Gillespie clearly got pulled back what can I say without getting myself into trouble?"

Defender Stig Bjornebye now faces a race against time to be fit for Wednesday's game against Bolton after missing yesterday's clash with a back injury.
