PAST times were child's play for visitors to Gawthorpe Hall, Padiham, this weekend. Children were invited to take their parents to the historic hall to join in fun and games and pastimes from long ago, organised by a team of professional historical interpreters led by Adrian Warrell.
Games to discover dated back to kales, a Tudor times version of skittles involving throwing sticks rather than rolling a ball, the popular Victorian game of croquet, still played today, and various board games from between the World War years.
Visitors could also join in puppet making workshops and watch a traditional Punch and Judy show.
There was also the chance to dress up in costumes from the Victorian area and the 1940s.
