A FOOTBALL team travelling to play a match in Darwen fled when their bus caught fire.
The players were travelling from Blackpool yesterday when the driver saw flames coming from the engine shortly after the bus left the M65.
A Darwen fire brigade spokesman said the driver pulled up near the Anchor public house in Blackburn Road and the bus was safely evacuated.
Firemen tackled the blaze which severely damaged the engine compartment and smoke damaged the passenger section.
