THE Environment Agency has warned that there could be a repeat of last years extensive flooding which caused devastation across the UK including parts of East Lancashire.
And they have urged people living in flood-prone areas to wake up to the dangers before they wake up to a flood.
Less than 12 months ago 10,000 homes and businesses were flooded across England and Wales but research shows that 50 per cent of people living in flood prone areas are oblivious to the risk and only one person in 10 takes any precautions.
Environment Agency flood warning manager Liz Anspoks said flooding is a risk but one people can do something about.
"Last year's floods were described as a wake-up call but there are signs that the alarm bells aren't ringing loudly enough to trigger action by many people," she said.
