THE president of Blackburn golf club has died after collapsing while playing.
Peter Haydock collapsed on a course in Birmingham and was airlifted to a hospital in Solihull.
Mr Haydock, 67, of St James Place, Blackburn, had been in Birmingham for a meeting of the National Golf Advisory Association, of which he was a committee member.
He was a past captain and past secretary at Blackburn Golf Club and became president nearly three years ago.
He was also assistant secretary of the East Lancashire Golf Association, and a past captain of the Association of Golf Club Secretaries, North West Region.
Mr Haydock was an old boy of Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Blackburn, and after National Service worked for British Rail before becoming a sales representative with Norweb.
He retired as an office manager with Norweb 13 years ago.
On the sporting front, Mr Haydock played badminton for Norweb and St Silas's.
He played cricket for Darwen and Chorley and enjoyed coaching youngsters in Accrington. He was also a keen footballer in his younger days.
He was a member of the Blackburn Scottish Society.
Mr Haydock is survived by his partner Valerie, sons Neil and Geoff and grandchildren Sam and Katie.
The cause of his death is still unknown.
The funeral service will take place at St Silas's in Preston New Road on Thursday at 10.45am, followed by cremation at Pleasington Crematorium.
