LEE Sculpher got his managerial career off to a glorious start as Clitheroe became the first team to inflict defeat upon highly-fancied Mossley this season in the NWCL First Division.
"It was a towering performance and not many teams will win there," said Lee, who took control of team affairs after Dave Burgess stood down to due work commitments last week.
"Not a lot will change for I worked alongside Dave and we shared the same sort of views, but I was delighted to see the lads go out, play with confidence and show just how good they can be. It was a very encouraging result for us all."
Neil Reynolds gave Clitheroe a dream start by converting a 19th-minute penalty after ace striker Lee Cryer had been pushed over.
And Neil Spencer doubled the advantage with a well-struck volley on 36 minutes.
Bradley Wosahlo pulled one back for Mossley early in the second half but Sculpher's lads stood firm to earn a win which lifts them to ninth in the table.
RESULT: MOSSLEY...1 CLITHEROE...2
