NELSON came down to earth with a bump with a shock five goal defeat at Daisy Hill.
John Bailey's side went a goal down as early as the eighth minute when slack defending allowed Simon Corns to head home a corner from inside the six-yard box.
In an end to end first half Daisy Hill adapted better to the monsoon-like conditions and increased their lead on the stroke of half time. Carl Jones crossed from the by-line and Steve Ellaby, unmarked, fired home from 12 yards out.
The Blues made a promising start to the second half, but the home side went further ahead after 50 minutes when Mark Canning could only parry an angled shot and Matt Worthington slotted in the rebound at the far post.
Two minutes later the Nelson defence were caught out waiting for an offside flag that never came and Dominic Shinks raced clear to score easily for his side's fourth goal.
On the hour it was Shinks who provided the cross for Dave Aspinall to convert for Daisy Hill's fifth goal as the Blues struggled to compete with their opponents.
To their credit the last half hour was a more event contest, but although Nelson created chances they were not converted and manager John Bailey will want to forget this game.
Nelson's next game is against Oldham Town, away on Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm.
RESULT: DAISY HILL...5 NELSON... 0
