A NETWORK of voluntary and community groups is to be set up in Pendle.
Residents and local organisations are asked to attend a public meeting at Nelson and Colne College, Reedyford Road Sports Centre, at 7pm on Tuesday.
An official from the Government Office for the North West will be guest speaker.
It is hoped that the proposed network will bring together community and voluntary organisations, particularly those in deprived neighbourhoods, so that all can be involved in important decisions affecting the future of their areas.
The network will form an integral part of the coming Local Strategic Partnership. This will be linked to the government's Community Empowerment Fund, which will finance its development.
Pendle Council's voluntary and community sector co-ordinator Mohammed Sarfraz said: "The network will allow people and communities to voice their concerns and suggestions to the council through the new Local Strategic Partnership.
"The meeting is important to all residents and voluntary and community groups. We are urging them to attend so they can find out more about the proposed network and be involved in its development."
