A WOMAN has been fined for buying shoes stolen in a warehouse raid.
Paula McCrory bought footwear for all the family from two men who came knocking at her door, offering shoes at bargain basement prices.
Blackburn magistrates heard that when police went to McCrory's home they found 15 boxed pairs of Kickers shoes which were part of a larger haul from a warehouse burglary.
And the court was told that while McCrory did not know the shoes were stolen, she accepted that she should have been suspicious.
McCrory, 37, of Billinge Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to handling stolen property. She was fined £60 with £65 costs.
Claire Fanning, prosecuting, said a large amount of stock had been stolen from a warehouse in Newton Street, Blackburn. When police searched McCrory's house they found 15 pairs of shoes still in boxes.
When interviewed McCrory said she had bought the shoes for £4 a pair from someone who came to her door.
When it was put to her that they had been ridiculously cheap, she said she thought she had paid a fair price and did not believe they were stolen.
