NEW pupils at a Blackpool senior school got to know each other better at a special friendship day recently.
Year seven students at St Mary's Catholic High school, St Walburga's Road, spent the morning playing ice-breaking games, writing profiles of themselves and prayers for the year on paper hands.
They also spent time preparing for Mass, which was celebrated at the end of the day.
A school spokesman said: "The aim of the day was to encourage pupils to get to know each other more in an informal way, foster friendships and to help the youngsters feel more confident and comfortable in their new environment."
Cath Binks, year seven head, added: "Our year sevens have enjoyed a really special day together, learning about themselves and each other.
"They have had a wonderful opportunity to make many new friends, and judging by the big smiles on their faces at the end of the day, I think they've done just that.
