A RADCLIFFE pensioner has died five months after he was beaten unconscious in an attack.
And on Tuesday (Sept 18), a Home Office pathologist carried out a post mortem into the death of Mr John Conwell (68).
The previous day he died at the Chestnut Court Nursing Home in Bury where he had been residing following a long spell in hospital.
Mr Conwell was badly injured in the incident which happened in Water Street, Radcliffe, in April, as he was making his way home after a night out.
The father-of-four sustained extensive injuries in the attack and is also believed to have suffered a stroke.
The post mortem took place on Tuesday and further tests are to be carried out.
Some weeks ago Mr Conwell's wife, Beryl, died after losing her battle against cancer.
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with actual bodily harm and is due to appear before the Crown Court next month.
