BURY actor Andrew Vincent is back on (nearly) home turf in a dramatic double bill at Bolton Octagon this week.
Starting on Tuesday (Sept 18) he has been appearing in the Northern Broadsides productions of The Cracked Pot and Oedipus.
Following the Bolton run, he joins the company on tour to Bristol, Stratford on Avon, Scarborough and Liverpool.
Andrew has appeared in many stage shows and has a long list of TV credits. But local people will know him better as Andrew Bennett, of Stephen Street, in Bury, who took part in amateur productions with the likes of Bury Athenaeum and Tottington St Anne's operatic societies.
This week's two shows, from the pen of Blake Morrison, could hardly be more different.
The Cracked Pot is a riotous comedy set in deepest Yorkshire, full of northern wit and satire on small town corruption. Oedipus, of course, has been adapted from the murderous, incestuous drama by Sophocles.
Andrew has previously worked with Broadsides in such heavyweight shows as Samson Agonistes, Alcestis, The Merry Wives of Windsor and King John.
Since graduating from Salford in 1994, he has appeared in national touring shows as diverse as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Abigail's Party, and Don't Dress for Dinner.
He has appeared in pantomime, and this year plays Abanazar in Aladdin at the Guildhall in Preston.
His TV credits Cops, Coronation Street, The Bill, Cold Feet, Where the Heart Is, Last of the Summer Wine, Crocodile Shoes, and Common as Muck.
