ASDA colleagues from Burnley who braved a day in the cells raised £1,000 for leading children's charity NCH.
Gillian Lingard, Fiona Burns and Lia Leone are all mums and agreed to spend a day in the cells at Padiham Police Station to raise money for NCH Action for Children's Know More campaign to stamp out bullying and help the Elm Tree Family Centre in Accrington Road, Burnley.
Gillian said: "When we looked around the cell and saw nothing but four walls and a steel toilet, we realised that it not going to be a pleasant experience, but the knowledge that we were raising £1,000 for such a worthy cause kept us going."
Theresa Stevens, from NCH, said: "This money will go a long way to helping children that need it most. We would like to thank not only the intrepid trio but all those colleagues, friends, family members and local businesses that sponsored them in their efforts. Your support really is appreciated."
In addition to the day in jail, Gillian, Fiona and Lia haver also raised £300 for local charities through additional in store staff fund-raising activities.
Of the money raised £100 will be going directly to Elm Tree centre.
